Lady Bird Day

July 23, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

A black and white photo of Lady Bird Johnson sitting on large boulders near prickly pear cacti. #BeLikeLadyBird is in a yellow graphic on the lower right corner.

Each year on Lady Bird Day, the Wildflower Center honors our namesake and founder and all that she did for our nation’s treasured environment. With her influence, President Johnson’s administration enacted more than 200 environmental laws with lasting national and local impact, including the 1965 Highway Beautification Act.

We invite the community to celebrate Mrs. Johnson’s environmental legacy with FREE admission on Lady Bird Day — Saturday, July 23, 2022!

  • Take a docent-led garden tour with start times from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • Stop by Wildflower Café for some Mrs. Johnson-inspired picnic fare.
  • Play a trivia game with this year’s Wildflower Center museum studies interns (there will be prizes!)
  • Join our friends from The Trail Foundation for a round of Plinko.
  • Learn more about Field of Light, an illuminating exhibition coming to the Texas Arboretum this fall.

Can’t make it? Scroll down for videos, audio stories, Mrs. Johnson’s recipes and more.
