Patsy Benavidez

Guest Experience Manager

It is with much excitement that Patsy joined what she calls a “brilliant bunch” at the Wildflower Center in March 2017. Patsy comes to the Center with a wealth of experience in public service. In October 2013, she retired from Austin’s Health and Human Services Department with 28 years of service. During her HHSD career, she supervised a variety of programs to improve the health and well-being of her community. As she started a new chapter in her career, Patsy contemplated what to do next that would take her to something different and fun.

She started volunteering at the Wildflower Center in fall 2016 as part of the Wednesday gardening group and eventually learned of an open receptionist position. She has since transitioned into a full-time member of the Guest Experience Department. Coming from a strong customer service background, Patsy’s main goals as guest experience assistant are to help Wildflower Center guests and callers with their questions, guide them to our amazing website for additional information and help them plan their visits.

Patsy has a love for native plants, gardening and the outdoors. When not at work, she enjoys swimming, exercising, going on walks and watching sunsets. Her idea of a perfect afternoon is being with friends while enjoying a glass of wine. She looks forward to visiting as many national parks and botanical gardens as she can.
