“Our inaugural Fortlandia captured the imaginations of more than 60,000 children and adults, so much so that we decided to bring it back in 2019,” said Patrick Newman, executive director of the Wildflower Center. “This year’s design submissions are exceptional, and we anticipate another fantastic exhibition this coming fall that provides our guests with opportunities to play and interact in our native Texas landscapes.”
More About Fortlandia
The Center’s popular Fortlandia exhibition debuted in 2018 and featured ten fantasy forts created by local artists, architects and designers. The exhibition aims to inspire the imagination and connect people to the environment by evoking a sense of childhood play and wonder. Fortlandia takes place in the 16-acre Mollie Steves Zachry Texas Arboretum, a signature feature of the Wildflower Center that highlights native trees and shrubs of the state.
