Join birding experts from @travisaudubonsociety and the Wildflower Center for a morning field trip! Learn to ID Texas birds and the plants they rely on for food and shelter. Bring your binoculars!
🌿 Drought Tolerant Plants (Oct. 12, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.)
With @bseacd declaring Stage III Critical Drought, effective Nov. 1, now’s an extra important time to learn how to conserve water in your garden. Discover drought tolerant species and tips to keep your plants thriving.

It’s bluebonnet planting season! Learn how to prep and germinate seeds for a stunning spring bloom.

Mealy blue sage (Salvia farinacea) is a Texas native that lights up gardens with its tall, spiky blue blooms - a magnet for pollinators like this bumblebee. Those pale markings on the petals? They act like landing strips, guiding visitors straight to the nectar. With deadheading, this beautiful perennial can keep your garden buzzing with bees, butterflies and hummingbirds into late autumn. 🐝🌿
Starting this weekend, our Fall Native Plant Sale is open to all! Check out the plant list at the link in our bio. Open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and free to attend. Fall is the best time to plant - come by and stock up!

Go ahead and jump for joy! Fortlandia 2024 is now open for explorers of all ages in the Luci and Ian Family Garden. We had so much fun welcoming our 2024 designers and guests for a sneak preview this week! ✨
From butterflies to beehives, this year’s exhibition has a fort for everyone to enjoy! 🐝 Once you’ve seen them all, don’t forget to vote for your favorite hideout using the QR code on each fort sign.

Every year, we connect more people to the beauty and importance of native plants here at the Wildflower Center. 🌿 In 2023, we reached a major milestone - welcoming a record-breaking 258,000 visitors to our gardens!
We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with @lakeflato, @cteneyck, and @studiooutside on a comprehensive plan that will allow us to deepen our impact, welcome more visitors, and expand programs that support the conservation of native landscapes.

Have friends in town for ACL? 🎶 We’re debuting a stacked lineup of our own! Fortlandia, our outdoor interactive exhibition, opens TOMORROW (Oct. 4) in the Luci and Ian Family Garden. Talented local artists, architects and designers have created eight unique hideouts to connect people of all ages to the environment, evoking a sense of childhood play and wonder.

Weekend 1 of our Fall Native Plant Sale was a blast! Get your wagons ready - we’re opening to the general public this Friday. 🛒 Texas is known for its bountiful oak trees and this year we have 14 native oak species available for purchase, including some you won’t find anywhere else!
