A couple of updates on our family of owls - the second owlet has now fledged and left the nest just like its sibling! Athena has been spotted nearby as well, watching over her babies from the trees and bringing them food as they gain confidence in their own hunting and flying. Looks like she's getting ready to gather the owlets in one tree for easier care. 🪶🦉

We're so grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our community in regards to these little owls. ❤️ To keep up with Athena and her owlets as they learn and grow, make sure you're following us here and on Facebook for more updates and photos! The Owl Cam will be turned back on next year when Athena returns to her nest.

Our botanical gardens have been taken over by 11 life-size animatronic dinosaurs - they must love wildflowers and native plants as much as we do! 🌿

This herbivorous dinosaur, loose in our Pollinator Habitat Garden, relies on the thick spikes on its back for protection against larger carnivorous predators, and can balance on its powerful back legs to reach higher branches of foliage. Can you identify this mystery dino? Drop your guess in the comments, or get your tickets for this exhibit today at the link in our bio to check it out for yourself!

Good news! 🦉 The owlet that slipped from the nest yesterday was spotted this morning behind the admission kiosk by our dedicated volunteer photographer, Bill J. Boyd, who snapped this picture of it in a nearby tree. 📷✨

Remember, these plucky owlets are at the age where they start to leave the nest and learn how to fly and hunt on their own, so if you see less of them on the Owl Cam, don't fear - this is all part of the plan! To read more about Athena and her owlets, check out the link in our bio! 🪶

Owlet update: early this morning, one of our precious owlets had a little slip and fell out of the nest. We know this fall can seem worrisome, but it's all part of the natural process! At 6 weeks old, this little one is just about at the age to start practicing those aerial acrobatics. Owlets are amazing climbers at this age, using their talons and beak to scale trees. While the ground might not be an ideal landing pad, the nearby trees are accessible for our intrepid little explorer. 🦉🌿

We're keeping an eye out in the daylight to ensure this adventurous owlet remains unharmed. The parents have been located nearby and are still actively caring for the owlets, bringing food and overseeing their flying lessons.
