Prairie-fire pink is an erect plant, growing 1-3 feet tall, with opposite leaves, rather fleshy, up to 6 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. The attractive flowers are bright red with 5 petals, 1/2-3/4 inch long, slightly toothed at the tip, and folding backward slightly with the stamens protuding noticeably.
