Atop a rather stout, leafless flower stalk growing from a basal rosette of rather fleshy, oblong leaves bloom 3-12 deep pink flowers in a loose umbel.
In spite of the plant's carrion odor, its brilliant color makes it a favorite with mountain hikers.
