Texas Blackland Prairies

This EPA Level III ecoregion encompasses all or part of 42 Texas counties. Lying entirely within the state of Texas, this ecoregion covers approximately the same land area as the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s Blackland Prairie vegetative region. It is comprised of two parallel bands separated by the East Central Texas Plains ecoregion and extending from southern Texas north to very near the Oklahoma border.
