"Perennial from a vertical or ascending stoloniform rhizome, crowns of individual ramets connected by slender stolons to the main rhizome, proliferating weakly ascending or decumbent stems bearing the current year's growth." (Reslit: 2854).

Hybrid progeny of Viola appalachensis and V. strriata. (Webref: 27).

Leaf Complexity: Simple
Fruit Type: Capsule
Leaf: "Cauline leaves at anthesis ovate to broadly so, the median ones obtuse or rounded and the upper abruptly obtusely or acutely pointed at apex, shallowly cordate at base, basal leaves broadly ovate to reniform, rounded at apex, shallowly cordate at base, all crenate along margins. Stipules lanceolate, lacerate with numerous thread-like processes. Foliage essentially glabrous except for scattered spicules over upper leaf surfaces and stipule margins." (Reslit: 2854).
Flower: "Petals pale blue; lateral petals densely bearded; spur 2.8-4.9 (avg. 4.1) mm long, 25-33% (avg. 29%) of the entire spur petal length (=blade plus spur). Lateral sepals ciliolate, lance-linear, with con-spicuous auricles 1.07-1.70 (avg. 1.39) mm long." (Reslit: 2854).
