"Rootstock fleshy, erect. Plant rather low, glabrous except the upper surface and margin of leaf, which has the characteristic pubescence of V. hirsutula. Blades of leaves broadly ovate to deltoid-ovate, acutish, but with a blunt tip, deeply cordate to nearly truncate at the base, 4-9 cm. long, 3.5-5 cm. wide, on slender petioles about twice their length, margin crenate-serrate with low teeth. Ripe but rather infertile capsule glabrous, about 7 mm. long." (Reslit: 2852).
