This plant bears several stems with palmately cleft leaves on long stalks, moist near the base, and bear a few white or pale pink flowers in a branched cluster.
One of the most widespread western Geraniums, it frequently hybridizes with other species, often making identification difficult. The genus name, from the Greek geranos ("crane"), refers to the fruit's beak.
