Native Plant Focus: The Long Point Basin Land Trust preserves habitat through: land ownership, land management activities and other legal instruments. It also provides opportunities for people to reconnect with nature through hands-on experience.
Description: Incorporated in 1996 as a charitable organization, the LONG POINT BASIN LAND TRUST is part of the growing LAND TRUST movement in Southern Ontario. The Land Trust works with landowners or managers who wish to protect and preserve lands that have ecological, scenic, agricultural, historic or recreational qualities. The Long Point Basin Land Trust is one of the founding members of the Ontario Land Trust Alliance (OLTA), an organization dedicated to the creation and support of a professional and ethical Land Trust movement in Ontario. To this end OLTA has developed a code of Standards and Practices to guide the operations of Land Trusts. Long Point Basin Land Trust has adopted these Standards and Practices to guide the operations of the trust.
