Abstract

Evaluates the effects of desiccation, storage temperature and duration, and pre-germination treatments on the germination of three species including Ximenia americana. Reducing moisture content and temperature during storage reduced viability of X. americana seeds. Aging also reduced germination. Pre-germination treatments did not increase germination, although germination in control treatments was greater than 70 percent. Nipping seeds reduced germination and placing seeds in boiling water was lethal.
