Shot: A population of mature plants. Photographer's note: "I was not aware there were any shale barrens in Georgia until very recently. These are developed on shales and siltstones of the Silurian age Red Mountain Formation. Taylor Ridge is a linear mountain in the Valley and Ridge Physiographic Province. The plant communities are interesting. Hairy lipfern (Cheilanthes lanosa) is extremely abundant."
