Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?

A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.

Title: List of Central Texas native shrubs
Answered by: Barbara Medford

QUESTION:

Need to find a list of Central Texas native shrubs.

ANSWER:

Easy to do, you came to the right place. Go to our Recommended Species section. On the United States map, click on Central Texas. This will take you to a recommended list of commercially available plants native to Central Texas. Click on  NARROW YOUR SEARCH and select "Shrub" in the drop-down menu under "Habit", then click on the "Narrow Your Search" box at the at the bottom. This will give you a list of 27 shrubs native to Central Texas. You can follow the plant link to our webpage on each plant, see a picture, find out more about the plant, and go down to the bottom of the webpage where you will find a link that will take you to Google information on the botanical name of the plant.
