Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?

A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.

Title: Drummonds wild onion growing along creek in St. Edwards Park
Answered by: Nan Hampton

QUESTION:

I live near St Edwards Park in Austin and was wondering what the name of the onion is that grows along the creek. Thanks

ANSWER:

My guess is that it is Drummond's wild onion (Allium drummondii). Another possibility is Canada onion (Allium canadense var. canadense).
