Description: Bas Rouge Farm & Forge is a small acreage diversified farm managing several enterprises, the primary of which is a Native Plants Nursery. Plants are sold locally in Maine at the Orono, Brewer and Bangor Farmers Markets. Other venues include the Native Gardens of Blue Hill in the spring and fall. Plants are also sold to private clients via our Permaculture Design Consulting services. Our stock includes a variety of limited quantities of native herbaceous, native shrubs and native trees (three-to-four-year growth). Plants are hand tended and grown from seed, plugs, division or as potted bare root stock. We also sell native seeds including Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca). We enjoy speaking, presenting workshops and classes on native plants, pollinators, and gardening. Bas Rouge Farm & Forge was the recipient of the 2022 North American Pollinator Protection Campaign's Farmer-Rancher Award USA
