Abstract

Discusses the synthesis of texaline, an antimycobacterial alkaloid isolated from Amyris elemifera as a potential source of new drugs to treat tuberculosis. Texaline was found to inactive in the assays done in this study but simpler diaryloxazoles were identified as potential lead compounds.
