Abstract

Conducts a common garden experiment to evaluate the distinctiveness of Helenium virginicum and H. autumnale. These taxa are treated as a single species complex by some authors. Results of the experiment found differences in height, bolting date, blooming period, leaf morphology, and pappus length. These observations indicate that the taxa are ecologically isolated.
