Abstract
Studies the factors influencing pollination mechanisms in Campsis radicans. This study found that a certain amount of pollen deposition is necessary for the stigma to close permanently, and that mechanical touch alone is not sufficient for permanent closure of the stigma. The stigma behavior is thought to facilitate pollination and enhance reproductive success. However, since the stigma behavior is the same with either cross- or self-pollen, the stigma behavior does not appear to be an outcrossing mechanism.Suggested Citation
