Abstract
Evaluates extracts of naturally occurring compounds from plants occurring on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. The compound texalin was extracted from the Florida native plant Amyris elemifera. The antimycobacterial activity of texalin was tested against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, M. avium and M. kansasii. Texalin showed antimycobacterial activity against the bacteria and may help determine new targets for future drug development.Suggested Citation
