Abstract
Investigates the competitive effects of Andropogon virginicus, Liquidambar styraciflua, and Pinus taeda (loblolly pine) on the growth of Pinus taeda. The response of P. taeda to competition varied by time. Early in the study, only L. styraciflua affected P. taeda. Later in the study, A. virginicus and L. styraciflua decreased P. taeda stem diameter. Effects of intraspecific competition on stem diameter were not detected until later in the study. The effects on P. taeda yield are discussed.Suggested Citation
