Habitat: Adventitious in disturbed soil. Several well established colonies. Deep, aluvial soil. Semi-shade.

Description: Erect perennial, to 5 cm tall from short rhizomes. Bears terminal panicles of normal flowers (deep bluish-purple/3-4 cm long) & lateral, few flowered panicles of cleistogamous flowers (maturing prior to normals). Leaves & stems pilosuious, but not velvety. Calyces & cleistogamous fruit glandular-pubescent (not as var runynii). Flowering branches densely pilosulous.
