Habitat: Moist, shady, alkaline soil. Among a variety of Poaceae & other herbs.

Description: Erect shrub, much branched, to 1.3 m tall. Stalk & branches slender, light brown, sparsely pubescent. Leaves alternate, petiolate (to 4 mm), 14x40 mm, rounded to acute apically, mostly truncate basally, green above, lighter below, serrate, lanceolate. Flowers solitary, axillary, on pedicels to 50 mm; petals 5, deep violet, 7 mm long. Fruit a capsule 4x3 mm.
