Habitat: Heavy shade. Recumbent on stream bank in alkaline, alluvial soil. Occasionally flooded. Small colony, not common in this community.
Description: Erect, single stalked perennial, 1.2 m tall. Some plants branching near extremity. Leaves narrowly eliptic, acute both ends, to 4x12 cm wide/long, alternate, stipitate, petioled. Flowers in dense, bracteate spikes. Calyces tubular with deltoid lobes. Corolla lavender with dark dots.
