Habitat: In full shade and full sun. In good soil under Juniperus ashei and in very poor soil, stoney, gravelly, almost no dirt.
Description: Corolla very loosely attached, falling as a unit or individual petals. Sepals-5, mid-vein and margns fimbrate. Petals-5, yellow. Stamens-5, united below to form a bowl-shaped, cupping the ovary. Styles-5, becoming one. Capsule 10-parted. Seed flattened, 1 x 1.5 mm, light orange.
