April D. Moore spent much of her childhood roaming the woods and hills around Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee and has always had a keen interest in nature and ecology. When she got her first camera (a Polaroid Instamatic) at 15 years old, it was a natural progression for her to use it to document the world around her. Her college years as a Journalism major further honed her photography skills and immersed her in many aspects of visual media. After college, she also spent many years exploring and surveying caves, and assisted with dozens of projects to document and protect their historic, cultural and natural resources.

She says, “I have always been a visual person, a gift from my father, and I love flowers and trees, a gift from my mother. There’s seldom a day I’m not photographing something, and most of the time, it’s a plant. I’m just grateful that in this digital age, I no longer have to pay a fortune to develop the film!"
