Eric Beckers’ love for plants began at an early age. His love of mountains began at about the same time. So it’s understandable that much of Eric’s wildflower photography takes place in pristine, high places.

He comes by his loves naturally. Eric’s father, Norman, instilled in him a love of the outdoors and a passion for adventure while his mother, Billie, taught him a love for living things, especially for plants and wildflowers. Going back farther, Eric’s ancestor, Captain William Banta, wrote in his book, Twenty-Seven Years on the Texas Frontier, “In the year of 1850, in the beautiful month of May, and on the fifteenth day, when everything in nature seemed to invite a smile from every human being, the beautiful green foliage overhead, the earth covered with its green carpet, dotted with beautiful flowers shedding forth their fragrant odor in the pleasant sunshine…”

With a camera in his hand, Eric’s father was always looking for a great shot. In that way, Eric inherited the photography bug, too. So whether he’s exploring nature in North America’s mountains or appreciating nature with his wife Lori in their garden on Beacon Hill south of Austin, Texas, Eric is sure to have a camera in hand to capture splendid moments in his life.
