Photographer's note: "Ruby-throated hummingbirds, are pollinators of this uncommon lily species. The highlight of my year. I have been looking for Lilium pyrophilum in the SC and NC Sandhills for several years and this year found a specimen in early July. I had to wait three weeks for the buds to open. Plus it was 2 hours away, so a few trips, all pleasant memories."
