Shot: Close-up of a flower. Photographer's note: "Palmleaf poppymallow is very rare in Georgia and only exist in one location. It is pure speculation as to whether the population is natural or not. It grows on both sides of a State Highway but not near an area where it would have been cultivated. It grows in and around a small natural prairie that has been slowly been turned into pasture. In years when mowing occurs in the spring, it doesn't bloom. Plants, however, do exist as perennial rosettes and will bloom heavily if not mowed. This year they are blooming heavily."
