Shot: A colony of plants in a forest of Southern Live Oak Quercus virginiana. Photographer's note: "I think Jekyll Island has some of the most pristine maritime forest along the Georgia coast. The live oaks are large and highly sculptured and the saw palmetto are extremely healthy. There are three or four saw palmettos that have erect trunks up to 20 feet high. Resurrection fern covers many of the live oak limbs. "
