Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?
A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.
Did you know you can access the Native Plant Information Network with your web-enabled smartphone?
Ask Mr. Smarty Plants is a free service provided by the staff and volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Title: Care for non-native Easter Lily (Lilium longiflorum)
Answered by: Nan Hampton
QUESTION:
How do you care for an Easter Lily once the flowers have fallen off?ANSWER:
The Wildflower Center's interests and expertise are in the area of plants native to North America and, lovely as it is, the Easter Lily (Lilium longiflorum) is not native to North America. It is a native of the Ryykyu Islands of southern Japan. I can, however, guide you to an excellent source on Easter Lilies and their history, holiday tradition and care. The Easter Lily Research Foundation has more information and care suggestions.More Non-Natives Questions
