Title: Can I grow Pawpaw in Central Texas?
Answered by: Joe Marcus

QUESTION:

Do you have any tips for growing pawpaws (not papaya) in central texas? It appears to be at the edge or slightly beyond its range, but maybe if I'm nice to it.. Thanks

ANSWER:

Asimina triloba (pawpaw) needs deep, rich, moist, acidic soil.  If your soil fits that description, you will probably have success growing Pawpaw.  While it is almost exclusively an understory tree in nature, it will grow in a sunny location if it's soil and moisture requirements are met.
