Seasonal Nursery Assistant

We have an immediate need for a Seasonal Nursery Assistant to help with our Fall Native Plant Sale. No plant knowledge or previous nursery experience is required, but the person who fills this position should be eager to follow the direction of our Horticulture staff. If you have good customer service and enjoy spending time outside, this could be a great opportunity for you!

This part time position is temporary/seasonal, benefits exempt from September 30 through October 25, 2022

Essential Functions

Primary duties include assisting with plant sales, specifically with transferring guest purchases to a pick-up area with a vehicle.
Watering and weeding containerized stock and plant sale inventory.
Good customer service skills required.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and have stamina to carry plants off and on throughout the shift.
Driver license required. Must have or be willing to complete UT driver certification before September 29, 2022.

Requirements

Must cooperate and communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse group of teammates, volunteers and guests.
Attention to safety and assisting guests is essential.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Moderate physical activity (bending, lifting, pushing/pulling), stamina and the ability to lift 30 pounds required.
Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.
Ability to maneuver in narrow or confined places around fragile plants required.

Schedule and Pay Rate

This is a part time, temporary position that runs September 30 through October 25.

Hours:

Fridays and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (firm)
Mondays and Tuesdays 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (negotiable)

Rate: $18/hr.

This position is temporary/seasonal and benefits exempt.
