Kyle Cheesborough

Kyle Cheesborough

Director of Gardens and Collections

Kyle joins the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center from Sherman Library & Gardens in Orange County, California, where he served as Director of Horticulture & Facilities. During his tenure, he helped shape the grounds into a premier display garden suited to the coastal climate and led the Gardens’ popular Nights of 1000 Lights event. He also collaborated with the U.S. Forest Service on observation and collection of Calochortus (mariposa lily) species native to Southern and Central California.

Prior to his work at Sherman, Kyle oversaw horticultural operations and site maintenance at the St. Louis Zoo and spent more than six years establishing the first Horticulture Department at Bellefontaine Cemetery & Arboretum, guiding it toward Level III Arboretum accreditation. His experience also includes roles at the Missouri Botanical Garden, commercial and retail nurseries, and floral design.

Kyle holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Horticulture) from the University of Georgia (GO DAWGS!). His original inspiration for horticulture was fostered by his grandmother, Belle LeRoy. He brings a deep passion for native plant conservation and is excited to advance that mission at the Wildflower Center.
