Kathy Hernandez

Executive Assistant

Kathy joined the Wildflower Center in 2014 as assistant to the executive director. Prior to joining the Center, she spent seven years as a project coordinator on the AmeriCorps Texas team at the OneStar Foundation, the state commission for service and volunteerism.

Although originally from a small town in southwest Michigan, Kathy came to Austin from Los Angeles, where she worked for several years as an ESL student advisor and course manager at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Kathy obtained her bachelor’s in Spanish from Northern Arizona University.

Wherever Kathy has lived, she’s always sought time to spend in nature. She was a member of the Sarett Nature Center in Michigan, attended native plant walks in California’s Angeles National Forest, spent countless hours hiking in the mountains of Sedona and Flagstaff, Arizona, and attends guided tours of Austin’s Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. She is thrilled to be on staff at the Widlflower Center where she can be in close contact with nature every day.
