K. Angel Horne
PR, Media & Marketing Coordinator
Angel migrated to the Wildflower Center just in time for the spring color explosion in 2016. She stays busy managing media relations, public information, social media and marketing. On a deep-breathing day, she enjoys slowing down a bit to write something a little longer than 280 characters for Wildflower magazine, for which she is also an associate editor. In 2019, she was named “Best in Social Media” at UT Austin’s inaugural Excellence in Communications Awards.
Before putting down roots at the Center, Angel ran marketing for a dance studio, worked as a freelance writer and editor, and managed communications for a small nonprofit where she also taught naturalist art, coastal ecology and kayaking. She has contributed to two major website overhauls and provided content for several blogs.
Angel is a passionate naturalist with a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of the Incarnate Word and many, many hours of science and arts studies. She was the token eco-crusader at her university where she was rumored to covertly sort out recyclables from landfill-destined trash.
Angel values volunteering within the community to aid people and pets experiencing homelessness. If she’s not firing off plant puns on the Center’s Instagram account, she’s probably dancing, swimming or chasing her dog at the park.
