K. Angel Horne

PR, Media & Marketing Coordinator

Angel migrated to the Wildflower Center just in time for the spring color explosion in 2016. She stays busy managing media relations, public information, social media and marketing. On a deep-breathing day, she enjoys slowing down a bit to write something a little longer than 140 characters for Wildflower magazine.

Before putting down roots at the Center, Angel ran marketing for a dance studio, worked as a freelance editor of books and things, and coordinated communications for a small nonprofit where she also taught naturalist art, coastal ecology and kayaking. She has contributed to two major website overhauls and provided content for several blogs.

Angel is a passionate naturalist with a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of the Incarnate Word and many, many hours of science and arts studies. She was the token eco-crusader at her university where she was rumored to covertly sort out recyclables from landfill-destined trash.

Angel enjoys volunteering with the Expedition School to teach water safety, paddling and ecology programs to students and the public. If she’s not firing off plant puns on the Center’s Instagram account, she’s probably dancing, swimming or chasing her dog at the park.
