Julie Marcus

Senior Horticulturist

Julie joined the Wildflower Center as a volunteer in 1993 and became a staff member in 1994. Since that time, she has worked in all areas of the Wildflower Center gardens and nursery. Currently, she is the senior horticulturist responsible for the Center’s Theme Gardens. Julie is also the plant sale chair for the Center’s biannual native plant sales.

Prior to joining the Center, Julie worked in other parts of the horticulture industry, including retail sales, interior plant maintenance and growing. Julie has been a member of the Texas Nurserymen’s Association, now known as the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association, and is currently the Wildflower Center’s representative to that association.

Julie is a self-described plant geek and has been a member of several gardening clubs, most recently the Austin Area Begonia Society and the Native Plant Society of Texas.
