Andrew began his career in conservation work on a restoration crew with the Student Conservation Association in the desert Southwest. He and his wife moved to Austin in 2009 after spending the better part of two years traveling around the United States working on various conservation and trail crews.
Prior to joining the Wildflower Center in 2012, Andrew spent a year working around Austin and Texas with the Texas Conservation Corps. His main work at the Center includes tree pruning and clearing as well as collecting and growing new species for the tree collection in the Texas Arboretum. The oaks of Texas have piqued his interest, and he is working to understand the complex nature of these plants in Texas and around the world.
Andrew lives (and works) on a ranch outside of Austin with his wife and daughter, two cats, a dog, and a handful of chickens. Find him in the Arboretum at the Wildflower Center.
