A low spreading plant with rosettes of pinnate leaves lying on sand; small, tight, round, short-stemmed umbels rising from center and bearing numerous tiny white flowers.
The genus name probably honors P. von Glehn, a 19th-century curator at the St. Petersburg Botanic Garden. There is only one native species of Glehnia; the other subspecies is Asian.
