Shrub or small tree, usually evergreen, with small, elliptical leaflets along narrowly winged axis.
This rare and local shrubby ash of restricted distribution is protected within the Goodding Research Natural Area of the Coronado National Forest, west of Nogales, Arizona. It was named in 1952 for Leslie Newton Goodding (1880-1967), a botanist of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, who discovered it in 1934.
