A long stalk topped by 1 flower with very long, narrow, spreading, brownish or purplish-green sepals and pink petals.

This orchid, the only species in this genus, is related to the genus Pogonia. Although it can occupy either wet or dry sites, it apparently requires a habitat with very acidic soil.
