Native Plants
As a service to the public, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center collects information on native plant societies, conservation groups, governmental agencies, botanical gardens, arboreta, and other plant-related organizations throughout North America. Native Plant Focus: EarthWorks' Urban Wilds Program is working to restore Boston's city-owned natural areas. The wilds, which total 250 acres at 39 separate sites scattered among 10 of the city's 16 neighbor-hoods, represent the full variety of Boston’s natural history, ranging from remnant salt marshes in East Boston to the meadows and forests of Hyde Park, Roslindale, and West Roxbury.
