Purpose of Position
Performs a variety of tasks for the custodial care and facility maintenance of the Wildflower Center. Responsible for the custodial maintenance of multiple buildings and facilities, along with supporting our annual Fortlandia exhibition, Luminations, and other events.

Cleaning (60%)
Cleans, sweeps, mops, dusts, vacuums, and scrubs tile work, floors, stairways, hallways, restrooms, offices, auditorium, classrooms, shower room, and building lobbies. Maintains cleanliness of outside areas (picnic areas, patios, water stations, etc.). Waxes and polishes floors. Scrubs, cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes restroom supplies. Washes windows. Cleans, dusts and polishes furniture and other office equipment. Polishes nickel and brass work. Empties trash and recycling receptacles and changes liners. Picks up litter from around buildings, grounds and parking areas. Operates laundry, dishwasher, and other appliances. Moves equipment up to 50 pounds.

Events Setup and Take Down (30%)

Performs setup and take down of tables, chairs, and other equipment for the Wildflower Center or privately sponsored events held on site.

Open/Closing Procedures (10%)
Secures buildings and rooms on schedule and or after cleaning. Secures site and boundary fence gates. Follows correct unlocking, locking, and alarm procedures. Interacts with visitors, volunteers, and other staff in a professional, courteous manner. Drives golf cart to perform duties in remote locations of the property.

Other related functions as assigned. May require occasional schedule shifts or overtime for mission-related events. All employees must adhere to our safety guidelines. Read the safety guidelines here.

High school diploma or GED.
Prior experience cleaning and maintaining facilities.
Texas driver’s license and access to dependable transportation.
Cooperate and communicate effectively and respectfully with teammates.
Ability to use cleaning equipment and power tools.
Ability to work in outdoor conditions.
(Upon hiring) Complete the University of Texas at Austin online driving training module and earn vehicle driving authorization by passing class and receiving certificate.

Temporary position up to 40 hours a week. Variable schedule will consist of weekdays and weekends between the hours of 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., with possible later hours for special events.

This position is temporary/seasonal and benefits exempt.
