Habitat: Semi-shade. Damp, thin, alkaline soil.
Description: 34 cm tall, glabrous perennial. Base suffruticose from taproot & fiberous roots, to 10 cm. Several stems basally & branched above. Leaves spirally arranged, short petiolate, oblong/obovate, 4.5x11 cm, cuneate, obtuse to acute apically, medium green above, lighter below. Pistillate flowers on 5-6 mm pedicels, solitary, apetalous. Sepals 5-6, leaflike, 1.5x.75 mm.
