Habitat: Partial sun. Damp, alkaline, rocky soil.

Description: Erect, single stem (to 37 cm), from mass of white fiberous roots; ridged (striate); purplish when young, light green later. Some branches above, to 10 cm. Leaves alternate, medium green above, lighter & heavily veined below, few toothed, petioled, ovate, to 25x40 mm. Calyx 5-parted,light green, expanding & persistant to enclose fruit, 20x20 mm. Fruit a 9 mm sphere.
