Habitat: Dry, alluvial, alkaline soil. Full sun.

Description: Taprooted annual. Stems weak, about 1 m tall. Lower leaves alternate, upper opposite; blades ovate-rhombic, coarsely toothed distally. Rays few, yellow, pistillate, fertile. Disk flowers permanently wrapped in the investing pales.
