Habitat: Deep shade, understory of Cornus, Lindera, Ungnadia. Moist, loose, alkaline, alluvial soil.

Description: Erect perennial, stem thin, red-brown, to 1 m tall. Leaves short, petioled, opposite,mostly ascending, ovate, narrowing basally, mucronate, glabrous, medium green, to 45x80 mm. Infloresence an axillary cyme. Pedicel to 25 mm. Flowers: about 10, cylindric, 3 mm long, white, lobes 5.
