Habitat: Dry, rocky, alkaline soil.

Description: Semi-woody perennial with swollen root. Leaves sessile, alternate, trilobed; coarsely, but irregularly toothed. Flowers open at 9:45 AM (CDST--when collected), calyx lobes lanceolate, flowers yellow-orange, petals ovate, stamens many.
