Habitat: Full sun. Soil thin, stoney, dry.

Description: Erect annual, 2-3 dm tall, taprooted. Leaves oblanceolate, long cuneate basally, grayish-green, entire to slightly dentate, pubescent. Scapes 1 or more, exceeding the leaves. Infloresence a terminal spike to 2 dm x 1 mm thick. Fruit a 2-seeded capsule. Seed reddish-black, about 1 x .5 mm.
